Continuity, worked through.

Three jobs, each shown end to end: the prose, the finding, and what the author decided. The prose in every example is real, quoted from an actual manuscript with its chapter named, so you can see what the checker is reading rather than a description of it.

Two of the three findings below are real product output, from a validation run on this manuscript — run 6b6070f2, the same run published on the report page. They are quoted as the product emitted them.

The third is not. Carrying canon between volumes needs a run across more than one book, and no such run was made — so that example is written by hand and labelled synthetic on the card itself. It describes what the product looks for rather than something it produced, and it stays marked that way until a cross-volume run replaces it.

The manuscript is a house title — the operator’s own unpublished novel — so no third party’s work appears here and there is no consent record to point at, because there is nobody to have obtained consent from. Nothing has been anonymised: no name, place or line of prose was altered, because altering it would mean every quotation on this page arrived with a question about what else had changed. What you are reading is the text as written.

Job one

Catching a timeline error.

The product filed this under canon, not timeline — and this run raised no timeline-category finding at all. It stands here for the timeline job because the work it does is the timeline job: it checks when a thing was said against when the book says it was said. The category label is the product’s, and it is shown as emitted.

Book one, chapter two — scene one and scene four

“Ch1 establishes Samuel telling childhood-era anomalies (including ‘the neighbor who was there and then was not’) to Hannah as a kid … Ch2 has Hannah say Samuel only raised Hendricks once, as an adult, at a Thanksgiving years ago … a contradiction that originates in Ch1’s setup.”

What the author did: dismissed it as stated. Both passages are in chapter two, not chapters one and two — and so is the listening it quotes: “she listened all the way down” is chapter two, scene one. The contradiction is real; the chapter attribution is not. Shown here because a page that published only the findings that were right would be advertising.

Job two

Preserving what a character knows.

Book one, chapter two — the same two scenes

“In Scene 1, Samuel recalls telling Hannah as kids about … ‘the neighbor who was there and then was not’ — establishing these as things he told her and she listened to. But in Scene 4, Hannah has no memory of Mr. Hendricks at all and treats the topic as entirely new/shocking (‘Mr. who?’), contradicting the earlier framing that she’d already heard about ‘the neighbor’ from him and listened ‘all the way down.’ This is a direct contradiction between an established shared-memory scene and the re-reference in dialogue.”

What the author did: accepted it. This is the same contradiction as job one, found by a different agent and placed where it actually is — scene one against scene four, inside one chapter. The pair is the point: the per-chapter auditor was right, and the aggregation step that tried to widen it introduced a citation the book does not support.

Job three

Carrying canon between volumes.

Synthetic — no cross-volume run was funded, so this one is written by hand and says so

Book two, chapter one

Book two opens inside Hannah’s point of view. Everything book one established about what she knows, and does not know, now has to hold in a volume written months later — and rereading book one to check is a thing nobody actually does. This is the scale where a bible stops being a convenience.

What the author did: carried the established canon forward rather than restating it. The volumes share one set of entries, so a contradiction between them is a contradiction against the same fact, not against a copy of it.

The first example is the one worth dwelling on: the checker raised it and the author overruled it. A page that showed only the findings that were right would be advertising. See also how canon is maintained and what Loreon does not do.
